Did you know, that with some payment processing systems there is a way to move people from one list to another depending on whether they’ve bought something from you?
And why would this be valuable?
(This is most useful for people who are selling their own products, but I urge anyone who is only recommending products as an affiliate to read it anyway. It will give you greater knowledge on what you can do with email marketing lists, and maybe some ideas for the future.)
So, the ability to keep a separate list of people who have bought from you would be valuable in several ways.
First off, a buyers email marketing list is valuable because it is made of valuable people. People who are willing to get out their credit card and buy. People who actually have money to spend. People who recognize the value in what you are offering and are willing to exchange money for it.
Not everyone is like this. Many people will do nothing but look. Never take action. Never buy anything. These looky-loos may be enticed to buy something in the future, but they may not.
Someone who has bought from you once, is likely to buy from you again if they like your work, and because of this a list of people who have bought from you should be treated differently than people who have not.
They also should be introduced to different products.
You don’t want to keep sending a pitch to a person about a product they have already bought!
In Aweber, the way to do this is through automation rules and email parsers.
So, with an email parser, you can sign up users for a list when they buy something using clickbank, e-junkie, yahoo, and other payment processors.
If these users are already on another list, you can use an automation rule to unsubscribe them from that first list and subscribe them to the second.
Boom! They are now on your buyers email marketing list!
You can keep pitching your initial product at your first list, and even offer sales over there, while on your buyers list you can give away more free information (as a thank you) and offer or recommend different products.
If you are only recommending affiliate products you can’t do this automatically, because the company who is actually making the sale will be the one to get the notifications of who has bought.
However, you could start making plans for making your own products, or start to get creative with manually making a buyers list if you were very active with your subscribers and they told you when they bought something.
Either way, buyers lists are valuable tools that can help you increase the amount of revenue you make even with a slow-growing list.
