Have you heard that you MUST have a list? Or that the money is in the list?
Well, you can make a living in online email marketing without an email marketing list. But a list will make it much easier to not only weather the ups and downs of business and search engine traffic, but also to retain customers, and turn website visitors into customers.
How, you ask?!
Let’s say you are an affiliate marketer recommending two specific products OR that you have your own product – possibly an ebook.
So now, someone lands on your website from a referral or a search engine results page. They like your information but aren’t ready to buy right now for one of these reasons:
There could be other reasons too.
Now, say they don’t buy whatever you are recommending, but they do get enticed to sign up for your email list.
Now, you have another chance, every single day, (or however often you choose) to prove your trustworthiness to this person, to keep sending your links and information to this person, to further convince this person, or just to keep your name in their mind until payday.
And it costs you almost nothing. (only the fees to maintain a list, which can amount to pennies per subscriber).
So, at any point, this person who would have just gone on their way, possibly to never return, may now decide to buy from your link, or buy your product. Boom! Painless sale!
Now, let’s say that this person buys. Is that it? Is it over? Will you never see them again?
No! As long as the subscriber stays on your list you have an another opportunity to sell him or her something else, or something else, or something else.
Someone who has bought from you once is actually MORE likely to buy from you again. That’s why a list of people who have bought from you in the past is gold. (treat those guys good!)
Don’t do it and be reliant on the search engines forever. Do it wrong and lose your subscribers.
So THAT is exactly how online email marketing makes you money.
