Is email marketing still effective?” I saw this question on a forum that I frequently visit.

The overwhelming answer to the question was “yes,” email marketing is still effective and probably will remain so for a very long time.

With the advent of blogs and Web 2.0 marketing, a lot of people predicted that email marketing would die but it just hasn’t happened. Email marketing is still the cornerstone of almost all Internet marketing.

So why is email marketing so important? And what do you need to do to make sure it’s an effective part of your marketing strategy?

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Provide valuable information
  2. Build a trusting relationship with your subscribers
  3. Use a benefit driven subject line so that your emails get opened
  4. Make sure that your follow up emails are timely, interesting and informative

Email marketing done correctly can be very profitable, especially if you build a responsive email list.
