* 1st Email Marketing Tip – Get more opt-ins by offering a quality freebie
In order to build an email list of subscribers it is usually necessary to give something away for free as a way of persuading people to opt-in and join your list. A common mistake that newbies make however is skimping on the quality of the freebie – and that’s a huge blunder to make. If your freebie is genuinely something that people want then people WILL rush to get it – but if it’s something which people can see has been cobbled together as a ‘freebie’ then they probably won’t bother. The trick is to give something away (for example an ebook, report or video course) that people would happily pay for. If you do that you’ll find your opt-in rate soars and your subscribers will be more responsive to you because you’ve created a positive impression.
* 2nd Email Marketing Tip – Treat your subscribers with respect
A mailing list gives you the ability to make money on tap but that doesn’t mean that you should treat your subscribers like a daily ATM machine and bombard them with constant sales messages. If you do that people will opt-out quicker than you can say Jack Robinson and you’ll probably NEVER get them back. Always treat your subscribers with respect and give them the information that they opted-in to receive. It’s ok to sell to them (we’re obviously building a list to make money) but don’t do it all the time and carefully consider your subscribers before you promote anything. Ask yourself if the product you are selling will actually benefit the people on your list and whether it gives them value. If the answer is no then don’t promote it!
* 3rd Email Marketing Tip – Email regularly but not too often
Email marketing is all about finding a balance. You need to keep in contact with your subscribers on a regular basis in order to build a relationship with them – but you don’t want to be mailing too often because people will quickly start to get sick of you if your name is constantly appearing in their email inbox.
* 4th Email Marketing Tip – Give your subscribers what they opted-in to receive
Another common mistake people make is not giving their subscribers the information which they opted-in to receive – for example the squeeze page (opt-in form) promises a monthly newsletter but actually people receive emails every day, or somebody opts-in to receive a free report on advanced email marketing strategies but then the emails they received are geared towards new and inexperienced people. The key is to always remember why people opted-in to your list in the first place and then A) give them the info they asked for and B) give them other information which is related to it or which you gauge they will also be interested in.
